The Legend of Hell House (1973)
The Legend of Hell House was made in 1973, July 15. This film was distributed by 20th Century Fox and the production company was Academy Pictures Cooperation. The movie is a British horror film directed by John Hough and it is based on the American novel Hell house by Richard Matheson, who too wrote the screenplay. The stars of the film was Pamela Franklin, Roddy McDowall, Clive Revill, and Gayle Hunnicutt. They play as a group of physicists and parapsychologists who spend a week in a purportedly haunted English manor in which previous investigators were killed while doing analysis. The dark red colour in the scene where the woman shutting her eyes I found effective. the colour red gives a feeling of evil presence, danger and warning, which this colour would engage the audience and build tension. Not only is the red displayed in the scene, but also in the titles, which too gives the same effect (danger, warning); with that, it will intrigue the audience into watching. As for the scene where the colour is blue and a cat is present, was also effective as the colour blue represents, peace, safety; also this colour is known for being beneficial to the body and mind. Which is key when it comes to horror movies (to control the audience's mind and body) that way the audience are fully engaged in the film and have all kinds of emotions whilst watching.

The Blair Witch Project (1999)
The Blair Witch Project was made in 1999,July 30; and was an American found footage horror film written, directed and edited by Daniel Myrick and Eduardo Sánchez and produced by Haxan Films. Also distributed by Artisan Entertainment. The film is similar to the story of three student film makers (Heather Donahue, Michael C. Williams, and Joshua Leonard) who disappeared whilst hiking in the hills named 'Black Hills' near Burkittsville, Maryland in 1994 to film a documentary about a local legend known as the 'Blair Witch'. The audience were told the three film makers were never found again, although their video and sound equipment (along with most of the footage they shot) was uncovered a year later and that this "recovered footage" is the film the audience is watching. The colour dark grey, black represents mystery, formality and the colour gives a negative connotation (black list, black humour or black death). In scenes where the characters are in the dark, this would give an impact on the audience, and make them feel tension; because in the dark, nothing can be seen and at any moment anything could happen. However the colour black and white (the picture of cover, left) represent innocence, purity and goodness. You can see all of this in the picture, as the woman seems to have a light shinning on her and judging by her eyes, she seems terrified, scared. By which the representation of 'innocence and purity' is shown in her eyes.

The Conjuring (2013)
The Conjuring was made in 2013, July 19; this is an American supernatural/paranormal horror film directed by James Wan (The film has also been distributed by (The Warner Bros Pictures). Patrick Wilson and Vera Farmiga star as Ed and Lorraine Warren, paranormal investigators and authors union with well-known cases of haunting. Their reports inspired the Amityville Horror. The Warrens come to the assistance of the Perron family (Ron Livingston and Lili Taylor), who experienced increasingly disturbing events from their farmhouse in Rhode Island in 1971. The colour used in the cover (similar to 'the Blair witch's project cover colour) black and white represent innocence and purity. The girl in the chair with the doll on her lap, is dressed in white, which fits the representation of white; being innocent. However the colour of the bow tie on the doll is red, and this colour is represented as evil, dangerous and too gives a negative vibe. The angle in the picture of the 'Witch' is a low shot. This angle is very effective in horror movies as the 'Witch' is seen as more powerful and strong. Therefore with this dominance and power of the scene, this will engage the audience and make them feel as if they are part of the action.

The Atticus Institute (2015)
The Atticus Institute 2015, Jan 23. The film was distributed by SND Groupe M6 and edited by Sam Bauer. It's an American independent found-footage horror film written and directed by Chris Sparling, which is about a paranormal research institute, which turns into a home to only the U.S. government confirmed case of possession. The plot of the film is that Dr. Henry West (William Mapother) found 'The Atticus Institute' to study paranormal activity, including E.S.P. along with psychokinesis. Regardless of witnessing numberous noteworthy cases, nothing could have prepared Dr. West and his colleagues for Judith Winstead (Rya Kihlstedt). She out-does every previous subject as her powers are realized to be demonic in nature. The U.S. government gets involved and tries to weaponize her abilities, which prove to have drastic consequences. The colour of the blood being hawked out the 'Judith's' mouth is black. This is seen as a powerful picture to that will fascinate the viewers; because instead of a normal colour of blood being red, it's black, which will raise suspicion as to why that is, and engage the audience. Likewise black blood is mostly known and used in horror films if the person is being possessed with the demon attempting to escape from their body.

In conclusion
No Pulse Production decided to choose the genre paranormal in our opening title sequence, as after gathering a countless feedback (25/30) voted for paranormal from the other options being supernatural/action/body horror and such. So we took these results and decided on the sub-genre paranormal. Since a wide majority of our audience are in our age group (16,17), we didn't include certain scenes that would apply to 18 and over such as nudity, violence etc. However we did include blood, as most of our feedback voted that they like gory scenes. So after our group did our research of paranormal movies and their history, we were mostly inspired by the films 'The Conjuring' and 'The Blair Witch Project'. The reason is not only because they both have good reviews on Metacritic, but the way the camera angles make the audience feel in the action and the way props may seem small, but can do so much within a scene.e.g. the doll (Annabelle, The Conjuring) or (The branches shaped like a star, Blair Witch Project) which is the reason why these films have such great reviews.
