Contrapuntal sound
Example: |
This means when the soundtrack does not match with the scene that is happening. This can have a quite disorientating effect upon the audience and can make them question what they are seeing. However this sound can engage the audience and play with their feelings e.g. The man in the video, who is slicing the man in chair's ear off; however happy music is being played, so the audience's reaction would be amusement instead of sorrow for the man on the chair.

Parallel Sound
This sound is usually go hand in hand with the image which is on screen. This is known on Parallel sound. For example in the video below a man is blowing a whistle and slowly sad music quietly comes into the scene. The facial expressions of the man is confusion and sadness, so the soundtrack and the sound effect of the whistle fit in the scene.
