How did you attract/address your audience?

Our opening title sequence attracted the audience by other OTS's that inspired No Pulse. We watched many opening title sequences, especially from paranormal movies that were successful in the film industry, and explored the way the titles are displayed, the storyline of the video and much more. Our conclusionOur group were so inspired by the movie 'OUIJA', we decided to use some of the props used in the movie. One of the props were of course a ouija board, and we also used candles, rope, cards and a book. The rope, cards and book were not in the movie, but we decided to use these as we still wanted our OTS to look like the movie, but with extra props to make the story twisted. The location of where we wanted our OTS to be set was in a school. Our group did research of paranormal movies being set in a school and we couldn't find one result, so we set the location in a school as this would be different to any paranormal movie.

The social class for our production is middle-class. We chose this class as a wide majority of students who attend school are middle-classed, so the audience could relate to. Our group found it more easier to get into a character who is middle-classed, rather than upper or lower. So not only was our group comfortable setting the social class, as middle-class, but characters also fitted perfectly in the role. Their clothing was ordinary teenage clothing, which matched the class. We wanted the audience to relate to the social class, but since our OTS is non-linear we had to make the storyline as twisted as possible.

We used pictures of normal families, as we thought this will attract the audience; because they could relate to family pictures. Not only that, but our group also picked out pictures of young children, graveyard essentially images of ordinary people and objects (Big rusty chain). However as our OTS goes on, a picture of a room with the writing "It was fun being in hell" appears which we felt would definitely give chills down the audience's back. Pictures appear of a body-bag being carried into van by policemen and more.

A typical victims in horror movies are young and female e.g. Scream (young, blonde woman), Taken (another young blonde woman) the reason for this is so the opposite sex in the audience is attracted to the movie. However in our production we used both male and female characters as victims, to then again twist the story; and engage the audience. Also in our production, although you don't see their hair, the male character has blonde hair and dies by hanging himself. This suited the stereotype, but then again we did use contradiction as the female character does not have blond hair and dies too by hanging.
