How does your opening title sequence use, develop or challenge forms and conventions of real media products?
There are several elements which show our horror to be a typical conventional horror and follow the themes of true film makers. When we were planning and filming our OTS we were thinking about the kind of shots and scenes from successful films we wanted to base our work on.
the film we used were sinister- 2012, Ouija-2014, conjuring-2013 because they are all successful films based around supernatural horror. With some of the scenes we tried to copy them directly but others we took out own spin on it but using the same principle.

Developing forms and conventions.
This distribution company has a title that follows conventions. the title has a moving background followed by and erie soundtrack to set the atmosphere for the rest of the trailer. The use of the world and stars links to other distribution companies such as universal pictures and paramount pictures as these have connatations of world wide and global distribution and there for promotes the idea that the film will be distributed globally this is presented by the world.

This follows conventions as candles are strongly known for paranormal films and exorcisms. we chose to use candles as they fitted our genre. we also choose to have all our titles in red as it follows conventions. The use of tarot cards also helps to reinforce the idea of links to the undead and the dead alike.
|
This clip follows conventions because titles in horror tend to be red, black or white, we chose red because it would stand out on our dark opening title sequence and because of reds association with blood and death. we used the candle because its always associated with rituals and the supernatural of which suits our film as its sub genre is supernatural.

This follows forms and conventions because opening title sequences are averaged between 1-3 minuets long if they have a titles sequence at all. Our opening title sequence is 2 minuets as we decided it would be best right in the middle. Our ots includes all the necessary titles in the same colours and fonts.
|
We choose to do our ots in black and white effect because it makes everything creepier and gives off an erie atmosphere, this challenges conventions because black and white is not commonly used in horror anymore due to the improvements in technology. the use of black and white makes it original and makes it look retro.
